Morning Departure: Begin your journey with a pickup from your hotel in Aswan. Travel in a modern, air-conditioned vehicle accompanied by your professional tour guide as you make your way to Luxor. East Bank Exploration:
- Karnak Temple Complex: Upon arrival in Luxor, your first stop will be the magnificent Karnak Temple Complex. This expansive site features a remarkable mix of decayed temples, chapels, pylons, and other structures, with construction dating back to the reign of Senusret I in the Middle Kingdom and continuing through the Ptolemaic period. As one of the largest ancient religious sites in the world, Karnak was primarily dedicated to the Theban triad of gods: Amon, his consort Mut, and their son Khunso.
Lunch: After exploring Karnak, enjoy a delicious lunch at a quality restaurant. West Bank Highlights:
- Valley of the Kings: After lunch, venture to the West Bank to visit the Valley of the Kings, home to the well-preserved tombs of the New Kingdom Pharaohs, including the illustrious Ramses II and the young King Tutankhamun. (For an additional fee, you may choose to enter the tomb of Tutankhamun directly.)
- Hatshepsut Temple: Visit the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, often referred to as "the Holy of Holies." This architectural masterpiece consists of three rising levels connected by ramps and features stunning wall scenes depicting the divine birth of the Queen and her expedition to the Land of Punt. The temple is primarily dedicated to the worship of the supreme god Amon-Ra.
- Colossi of Memnon: Conclude your West Bank tour with a stop at the Colossi of Memnon, where two towering statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III stand guard over the remnants of his funerary temple. Hear fascinating stories and legends surrounding the statues while examining the ancient Roman-era graffiti etched into the stone.
Optional Alabaster Factory Visit: Before concluding your tour, you have the option to visit a local alabaster factory, where you can observe artisans at work and purchase beautifully hand-crafted pieces as souvenirs, should you desire. Evening Transfer: Around 5:00 PM, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Aswan, or if you prefer, to a hotel in Luxor or Luxor Airport for departure.
