Morning in Abu Simbel:
Upon arrival, explore the iconic Great Temple of Ramses II and the Temple of Queen Nefertari. Both temples were uncovered in 1813, hidden beneath the sands for centuries. In 1960, the temples were meticulously relocated by the Egyptian government and UNESCO to protect them from the rising waters of the Nile. The Great Temple of Ramses II was primarily constructed to honor the pharaoh himself and features an impressive mural depicting his famous victory at the Battle of Kadesh. Adjacent to Ramses II's temple, you'll find the Temple of Nefertari, dedicated to his beloved wife among his many consorts.
Return to Aswan:
